Lake Superior College Foundation to Award up to $100,000 in Workforce Development Scholarships

Eligible students can apply for Workforce Development Scholarships October 15-November 15. If approved, the funding would be awarded for Spring 2021.

The Minnesota Legislature has provided funding for dozens of $2,500 scholarships at all of the 30 community and technical colleges of Minnesota State in the high-demand fields of:

  • Advanced Manufacturing
  • Agriculture
  • Health Care Services
  • Information Technology
  • Early Childhood Education
  • Transportation


  • Enrolled in high-demand occupation within eligible program
  • Student must be enrolled in at least 9 credits per term; maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher, and must be a Minnesota resident
  • Annual award typically broken down into two payments of $1,250 per semester, for two semesters; however, can be given in one lump sum if approved and necessary. Eligible returning students may reapply and receive continued funding up to $7,500 maximum, over three years
  • Preference for students in financial need, that demonstrate how, if awarded, this scholarship would help support their educational and career goals

Lake Superior College Foundation Awards nearly $150,000 in Spring Scholarships

The Lake Superior College Foundation awarded nearly $150,000 in scholarships this spring, for students returning to LSC Fall Semester 2020. The entire application process is online and only requires applicants to setup an account in the AwardSpring system. Foundation scholarships are available to both current and incoming students in good standing, and will be awarded to students enrolled at LSC in Fall Semester 2020.

While we award some scholarships throughout the year, this is the largest one-time scholarship application process and distribution.

Please keep in mind that some scholarships could be relevant to multiple categories, while some are general and others are program specific. This is not necessarily a comprehensive list.
